I’m not sure what stretch is to grade the product. These work great for 14-16 gage wires. I used an igniter like for a grill. Marine wire has a high temp rating so there were no I’ll effects. When I tried 12gage wires… the solder did not penetrate and the additional heat time caused the product to fail. Just do not try to use outside the specified size range. These are time savers, no crimp to grab, both wires connected at once, positive tight connections (visible solder flow) then both ends get sealed with the heat shrink material. Saves like 4 steps and multiple tools. Suggest overlapping the wire ends inside the connector..

I used these recently when requiring new hand controls on my Harley. They worked very well.

  3. Jeffrey Huntoon

By the time the solder melts the whole thing gets burnt

I rewired my boat, all my accessories ran 14 gauge. Every wire to wire connection I used these, worked exceptionally well. I learned on the first boat that grill lighters do work, its so much better to buy a butane torch, especially since im either working at the dock, or with a fan running. both will do the shrink + solder just fine, but a butane torch is less frustrating with wind. Everything seems waterproof and strong so far.

I yous these all the time.i like tham.it makes the job so much easyer.

    Very easy to use!

I am always looking for wire connectors that will seal up and keep any moisture out as most of the wiring I am doing is on vehicles or equipment which is always taking a beating from the elements and the agents they apply to roads these days, these connectors appear to be sealing up the connection very well, I love watching the solder melt and flow thru the wires. Time will tell if they seal up as nicely as the appear to.

  8. Ruben Reyes

Perfect for in-cab electrical jobs and underhood except wish that had more soldering inside but other than that good product.

  9. Andrew

I bought these on a whim, but they really do connect 2 wires together quickly and well, compared to hand soldering and then wrapping with tape or shrink tubing.

Worked great to solder and shrink wrap in a single step, and able to do with heat gun in confined area where only have access of a single hand (like joining wires under my center console on my boat). I finish after the wrap cools by sliding a second non-solder shrink wrap over the bonded joint and double insulating as boat environment is pretty harsh and I want to minimize having Future potential for shorts.

They take a little getting used to so do a few “practice splices” before doing a real splice. The outer plastic becomes VERY SOFT at the temps needed to melt the solder so care is needed. If you get the plastic a little too hot it will char. Once you get used to them, they work very well. Highly recommend you use a heat gun and not a match or lighter. A small handheld heat gun will work in the smallest (white) connectors but for the next size up (blue) and larger, you will likely need a full size heat gun.

    Works great

Used for connecting rgb pixel wires – used about 150 so far and zero issues.

I was looking for some wire-to-wire connectors, which these do just fine for, but I actually found them to be very useful for RGB LED (4-pin 5mm) bulbs. Bezels for these bulbs will come with 2-leg mounts, so you’re really left on your own if you want an RGB LED in a bezel mount.Anyway, these solder seals are perfect for them – the legs extend out past beyond the center soldering point, which makes things very easy. I’m using the 22-18ga seals, and while they grip well enough for a solid, professional looking connection, you may want to use the smaller size if you intend on doing pin-pin / pin-wire connections.

Work great and seal tight. Clear tubing makes it easy to see what you are doing. They are very delicate though, the white sealer slips out of place sometimes, and it is tricky to use when that happens.

Needs decent heat to melt the solder. Perfect size for most car wires.

  17. Old Grouch

Up to this point I have always used crimp connectors. Those work fine unless it’s in a tight space where getting a crimper in to do its work is nigh on impossible. And then there’s the issue of having to preinstall heat shrink tubing on them, which is also difficult sometimes. These solve both problems. Just slide the connector onto one wire, put the stripped ends of the two wires together, slide the connector onto the joint so the solder ring inside in over the joined ends, fire up the heat gun and shrink the ends, and then hit the solder ring until it melts and flows, and it’s done, but do be sure to give the connection about 30 seconds or so to cool before tugging on it, or it’ll pull apart.

The shrink tub will melt faster then the souter will

I’m never going crimp-ons again! These suckers are fantastic for auto. I’m rebuilding a jeep and chasing electrical issues left and right. These guys arrived today and I have my new door harness ready to go in under 30 minutes! Word of advice, let cool after heating for about 30 seconds before moving it around

    Good product

  21. Todd Kriner

    Very convenient

  22. Martin Coalson

These are easy to use, end to end wire connections, which melt solder and plastic wrap, tight with a portable lighter.

  23. Justin

I’ve been using these for a few years with Christmas lightning (outside & in the snow). These work really well and are much more convenient and easy to work with over traditional soldering and shrink wrap. I will say that I have noticed they do seem to have an unused shelf life. I’ve found that some of the unused sleeves, if I try to use them a year later, the solder won’t melt. That’s not a huge issue as I typically just buy up several prior to the season and they work well.

Had to repair 30 wires on my truck, and these are AWESOME. Super easy to use with a cheap heat gun. Saved SOOO much time.
